Enter on keypad beside the front door. Lock engages automatically behind you.

Welcome to the mountains.

Sierra Pines Lodge is stocked and ready — fresh linens, firewood stacked by the hearth, and a welcome basket with local snacks and a bottle of Tahoe South Brewing Co. on the kitchen island.

Your host, Claire, is reachable 24/7. If anything isn't perfect, text before you do anything else.

Getting In

1
Park in the driveway — see parking details below
2
Walk to the front door — keypad is right of the door handle
3
Enter 2853 and press the checkmark button
4
Door unlocks — push it open. You're in.
5
Do not lock the interior doorknob. The keypad handles all locking.

Parking

Two private spots in the driveway. No street parking on Lakeview Drive during winter months (Nov–Apr) — snow removal vehicles need clear access and the fine is $150. Additional vehicles: use the public lot at 3066 Lake Tahoe Blvd, about 0.4 miles away, free overnight.

Share House Manual

Loop in the whole group.

One link covers everything — door code, WiFi, fireplace instructions, local ski conditions, house rules. Works on any phone with no download and no login required.

Send it before you even arrive so everyone shows up knowing the deal.

Add it to your home screen.

Tap Share in your browser, then "Add to Home Screen." It works like an app — instant access, no signal needed once loaded.

House Rules

Simple rules. Great stays.

This lodge has been cared for since 2019. We ask that you treat it as your own mountain home — with respect and a little common sense. Follow these and your deposit comes back in full.

👥
Maximum Occupancy: 8 GuestsNo additional visitors beyond the registered party. Overnight guests must be listed on your reservation.
🚫
No Parties or EventsNo large gatherings, events, or group functions beyond registered guests. This is a residential neighborhood — neighbors are close.
🔇
Quiet Hours: 10 PM – 8 AMThe mountain community takes this seriously. Keep outdoor voices low and close the back deck door after 10 PM.
🚬
No Smoking IndoorsSmoking is permitted on the back deck only — not near the hot tub. A $400 deep-clean fee applies for indoor smoking violations. No campfires outside designated fire pit area.
🐾
Pets: 1 Dog AllowedOne well-behaved dog welcome — no additional fee. Please keep off all furniture and beds. Clean up after your pet in the yard. No cats or other animals.
❄️
Winter Snow ProtocolDo not park on the street during snow events. Shake snow off boots before entering. The ski boot rack and mat are at the front entry — please use them.
🔥
Fireplace SafetyOpen the flue before lighting. Never leave a fire unattended. Extinguish fully before sleeping or leaving the property. Fire extinguisher is mounted in the kitchen.
🗑️
Trash & Bear BinsThis is bear country. All food waste goes in the bear-proof bin at the side of the house — not the regular trash, not the car. Violations attract wildlife and carry county fines.
📷
Exterior CamerasTwo cameras cover the driveway and front entry. No cameras inside the home or hot tub area. These protect your privacy and our property equally.

⚠️ Occupancy violations, unauthorized parties, or indoor smoking may result in immediate removal without refund and additional charges up to $1,500.

Fireplace & Hot Tub

The two best things about a mountain lodge.

The stone fireplace is the centerpiece of the main living room. The hot tub is on the back deck with a direct view of the treeline and, on clear nights, the stars above the Sierra Nevada. Both are yours to enjoy — use them well.

Hot Tub Temperature
104°F
Maintained year-round. Do not adjust the main thermostat panel.

Fireplace — How to Light

1
Open the flue damper — the lever is on the upper left inside the firebox. Pull it toward you until it clicks open.
2
Place 2–3 logs from the rack on the iron grate. Use the fatwood kindling sticks in the basket to start.
3
Light the kindling with the long fireplace lighter on the mantle. Do not use lighter fluid.
4
Once established, add a second log after 15 minutes. Maximum 3 logs at a time.
5
Before bed or leaving: Let fire burn down fully. Close the flue only when completely cold — ash can smolder for hours.

Hot Tub — How to Use

1
Unzip and fold back the insulated cover onto the holder bracket on the right side of the tub.
2
Press Jets on the side panel. Cycle through low and high with a second press.
3
Press Light for the underwater LED — it cycles through colors automatically.
4
Towels and robes are in the deck box to the left of the tub door.
5
When done, replace the cover fully to retain heat and keep debris out. Tahoe nights are cold — an uncovered tub loses heat fast.

Hot Tub Rules

🚿
Rinse Off FirstThe outdoor shower on the deck is heated. A quick rinse protects the water chemistry and everyone in it.
🍷
No Glass Near the TubPlastic cups and cans only. A glass break in the tub requires a full drain — $300 fee.
🧴
No Oils or LotionsSkip the bath bombs, essential oils, and lotion before soaking. They destroy the chemical balance.
🕙
Hot Tub Hours: 7 AM – 11 PMThe jet pump is loud. Out of respect for neighbors and the quiet mountain environment, please observe these hours.
❄️
In Winter: Watch Your StepThe deck may be icy. The non-slip mat path from the back door to the tub is sanded each morning. Walk slowly.

Parking

Two private spots in the covered driveway. No street parking Nov–Apr — snow plows run overnight and vehicles will be towed. Additional car: use the free public lot at 3066 Lake Tahoe Blvd (0.4 miles, free overnight year-round).

If you're heading to Heavenly, the free ski shuttle stops at Pioneer Trail & Lakeview — 3-minute walk. No need to drive to the mountain.

Laundry

Washer and dryer are in the mudroom off the garage entrance. Seventh Generation pods are on the shelf above the machine — one per load. Do not overfill. The dryer runs about 50 minutes on Normal. Hang ski base layers and wool — don't put them in the dryer.

Mesh laundry bags for delicates are hanging on the rod above the machine.

Iron & Steamer

A full-size iron and ironing board are in the master bedroom closet. A handheld garment steamer is on the shelf above — great for travel clothes straight from a bag. Fill with tap water, heat for 90 seconds, hold 2 inches from fabric. Use the steamer only for synthetics and wool.

Kitchen

Fully equipped for large group cooking — 6-burner gas range, double oven, full coffee station with a Breville espresso machine (pods in the drawer below) and a drip option. Dishwasher pods are under the sink. Paper towels and trash bags are in the lower cabinet by the fridge.

Altitude note: At 6,260 ft, water boils at about 200°F instead of 212°F. Pasta and eggs take slightly longer. Baked goods may need 25°F more than the recipe says.

Thermostats & Heat

Ecobee thermostats in the living room and upstairs hallway. Pre-set to 68°F. Radiant floor heat in the master bath — switch on the wall inside the bathroom door. Do not set the main heat above 74°F. If a baseboard heater is making a popping noise, that's normal expansion — not a malfunction.

Book Direct & Save

The platform fee is optional. Most people just don't know it.

Airbnb and VRBO add a service fee of 12–16% on top of every booking. That's their cut for being the middleman. When you book direct, there is no middleman — so there's no fee.

Same house. Same host. Same experience. Fewer dollars out of your pocket.

Text the Host

Claire picks up. Always.

No call centers, no ticket systems. When you text, you reach Claire — or her property manager Scott, who knows this lodge as well as she does. Between the two of them, someone is always available.

Response time is typically under 10 minutes. After midnight, expect 20–30 minutes unless marked urgent.

Great reasons to text:

Why direct.

Platforms filter, delay, and log every message. We don't think that's how hospitality should work. You're a guest in Claire's home — you deserve a direct line from the moment you arrive.

Split the Bill

Divide it up instantly.

Things to coordinate:

Photos

This place photographs beautifully.

The money shot is the hot tub in winter — steam rising, snow on the pine branches, stars overhead. Best time: 8–9 PM on a clear night with the LED lights on blue mode.

Other great shots: the stone fireplace with a fire going, the mountain view from the back deck at sunrise (best light is 6:45–7:30 AM), and the kitchen island spread during a group breakfast.

Departure Checklist
Check-Out Time
By 10:00 AM
Late checkout by request — text Claire the night before.

Before you head down the mountain:

Strip the beds — leave linens in the laundry basket in each room
Start the dishwasher if there are dirty dishes
All food waste goes in the bear-proof bin outside — not the trash can
Extinguish any remaining fireplace embers and close the flue
Replace the hot tub cover fully and latch both clips
Turn off all lights, heating zones, and the Breville espresso machine
Lock the front door via keypad — listen for the click
Text Claire "all clear" so she can get the next guests in smoothly

Safe travels down.

If conditions are icy, give yourself extra time on the mountain roads. I-80 and Hwy 50 both have chain requirements during winter storms — check Caltrans QuickMap before you leave.

A review means everything to a property like ours. If anything wasn't perfect, text Claire first — she'll make it right.
